Let's face it, there are very few things that separate the men from the boys.
Namely, height.
And facial hair.
Clarke has both.
Until a few nights ago when he spontaneously shrunk!
Just kidding.
Actually, he shaved. Much to my bitter disappointment.
Smooth skin is for women and children and quite honestly strips a man of "masculinity" since its only one of two things that keep him from being mistaken for a "boy."
You see, as boys grow taller and older, theoretically speaking, they become "men." Men, who like their juvenile counterpart still find inexplicable joy in Legos, video games, light sabres (ask me about my most recent wedding!), water guns, monster trucks, and remote control cars. Therefore, facial hair is quite necessary if any man wants to be taken seriously and distinguish himself from the "boys."
While growing up, I was surrounded by men who had facial hair. In fact, only ONCE in my life have I seen my father without facial hair. It was about two years ago and it was downright frightening...and rather unnatural. Needless to say, he grew back his mustache immediately!

As a child, my grandfather always nuzzled my cheeks with his wiskered face. I never knew him to be clean shaven, just wonderfully wiskered and full of love.
Its no surprise, that I've encouraged Clarke to maintain a goatee (at least) for the last seven years. He's even getting good about growing a mustache too--which makes his goatee even sexier, manlier. His goatee brings out his eyes, which otherwise get lost under his blonde brows and amidst a baby face when he shaves. Luckily, he's agreed to regrow his goatee. (whew!)
In conclusion:
"He that hath a beard is more than a youth
and he that hath no beard is less than a man."
and he that hath no beard is less than a man."
